This Saturday sees the cream of world curling descend on Moncton, Canada for the men’s World Championships, and host nation Canada are the 1/4 favourites with Sky Bet to make it a hat-trick of titles, and their seventh in the last nine years.
Runners-up last year, Team Scotland, led by the superb David Murdoch, are the undoubted main challengers to continuing Canadian dominance, and are priced at 5/1 to regain the title they last won in 2006.
Sky Bet curling correspondent Cameron Murray “Kevin Martin’s Canada team are fully deserving of short odds-on status, but Murdoch’s team have been in superb form in major tournaments, as shown in their retaining the European title last year, and they must be regarded as the genuine challenge to Canada.”
“Others to look out for are the Norway team of Thomas Ulsrud (10/1), and also expect progress from Team China (16/1). Team China won the women’s world title last week for the first time, and much is expected, improvement wise from the men.”
“Offering 1/3 odds for a place, we at Sky Bet certainly expect to see some each way betting on Scotland.”
